Our Story

In 1982, while serving as Chief Engineer for NATO in Europe, Harry H. Mellon invented the Job Order Contracting system that is now the basis for all Job Order Contracting programs used in every defense facility in the United States and throughout the world. In 1990, he founded Gordian with a spirit of innovation and an unwavering commitment to tackling the challenge of procuring quality, competitively bid construction work. Armed with that knowledge and experience, Gordian began implementing and managing Job Order Contracting programs for clients in multiple industries throughout the United States and Canada.

Our overriding purpose is to give you the tools you need to be successful. Which is why we created our online portal, the most widely used construction procurement information management software available anywhere. From enterprise-wide Job Order Contracting programs, to administering construction contracts, executing electronic bidding, controlling change order costs, and everything in between, this Software as a Service (SaaS) platform is designed to easily manage the essential functions of the construction procurement process. In addition, we offer facilities intelligence and Life Cycle Costing software to improve long-term performance of your assets and gauge initial installed costs versus long-term facility costs. You can also estimate complete construction, renovation and operating costs, as well as estimate total sustainment costs, run comparison reporting for both new construction and existing facilities, and more. Custom dashboards offer data for overseeing multiple buildings and/or campus-type settings and will also help you maintain a good understanding of capital and operating and maintenance budgets for the long haul.
