Restoring Savannah’s Historic Carnegie Library With Job Order Contracting

A historic building with rich, cultural significance, Savannah, Georgia’s Carnegie Library has survived segregation, book theft and threats of closure to serve as a local hub of African American thought leadership and achievement. But when the building suffered serious storm damage in 2024, the Carnegie Library was forced to close its door for nearly two years.
Funding for library renovations was finally approved in 2025. To repair the damage, restore the structure to its former glory and re-open to an eager public, Carnegie Library leaders turned to Gordian’s Cooperative Job Order Contracting (JOC).
