Job Order Contracting Research from NIGP and Gordian Resource Hub
January 12, 2026
Despite 30+ years of success, Job Order Contracting (JOC) is one of the lesser-understood construction project delivery methods. Procurement teams just aren’t as familiar with it as they are with more traditional delivery methods like design-build and design-bid-build. And familiarity breeds trust.
In an effort to increase familiarity and ultimately build market trust in JOC, NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement and Gordian joined forces to conduct Job Order Contracting research. The results of this study, spearheaded by two Ph.D.-level researchers, have profound implications for procurement professionals, particularly those in the public sector, who find themselves under increasing pressure to accomplish more with fewer resources.
This collection of resources digs into this groundbreaking Job Order Contracting research and quantifies the benefits of purchasing construction services via a Job Order Contract.
