Gordian Gives Throughout 2022 Fortive Day of Caring

Gordian strongly believes we have a responsibility to our employees, our customers and the communities where we do business. Alongside the definition for caring in the dictionary, you should find photos of our extraordinary teams. Affectionately called Gordianites, our team members take pride in the work we do to help build and maintain safe and reliable community spaces. The dedication and commitment to our communities extends after hours and beyond the day job.

Gordian participated in Fortive’s 2022 Day of Caring, encouraging all employees to be involved and give back to their communities. Employees were given 16 hours of paid volunteer time off and various ways to be involved locally and virtually, and they used that time well.

410 Gordianites gave back to their communities throughout 2022 — serving over 4,200 hours and donating more than $10,000 and 450+ items to positively impact 60+ organizations across the globe.

Teams at Gordian Give to Organizations and Causes They’re Passionate About

Our teams supported causes near and dear to their hearts this year, including protecting the environment, providing for animals and providing support and relief for families during the holidays. Gordianites volunteered at, sponsored and donated to organizations from Canada to Hawaii to Massachusetts to the Ivory Coast of Africa — to assist in hurricane relief efforts, build affordable housing and help organizations provide critical resources to those in need. Here are the top three categories our teams chose to support the most throughout 2022.

Youth Organizations

Many Gordianites chose to give their time, talents and treasures in support of children and youth this past year. One of our teammates has a little sister through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and cherishes her time spent as a mentor. Gordian’s marketing team packed and donated 240 snack packs and more than 150 hygiene kits to support Greenville, SC, school students. Our full team donated school supplies and team members helped pack 15 backpacks to help Greenville students get prepared for a great school year. During 2022’s directors meeting, our leaders put together and donated 11 electric guitars to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Our donation was the inspiration to start their first-ever music program at the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Club!

Employees also helped further education for students through donations to the Savannah Engineering Academy and Non-Profit College Match Reading. One of our amazing team members helped out at the school his wife teaches for in New York, decorating the classroom in preparation for the students. Gordian’s 18th annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand raised more than $1,750 in virtual and in-person donations to support research towards a cure for childhood cancer.

Health Equity and Wellness

In addition to the fundraising for childhood cancer research, employees found many ways to promote health equity and wellness. Team members served as a Handy Bus Driver for a local hospital and volunteered with the maintenance department at a local retirement residence. Gordianites donated blood to the American Red Cross and The Blood Connection. Members of our team in Hawaii got together to join a 5K walk supporting the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Gordian also sponsored a team member’s half marathon fundraising effort for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Team members also supported crisis and mental health efforts through volunteering and donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Family Promise of the Coastal Empire and the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.

Food Insecurity

Promoting wellness goes hand in hand with helping to provide nutritional resources to neighbors in need. Members of our team in Texas brought the shovels and labor to help prepare winter production beds at Tabor Farms, which is a community owned and operated urban farm developed as part of the Grow Southeast initiative to address food insecurity in the area. Team members also delivered meals with Meals on Wheels and donated food and time to local food pantries. Gordianites in Florida took the day to volunteer at the Miami Rescue Mission and a group up the coast in Massachusetts did the same, giving their time and energy to assist the Boston Rescue Mission.

We’re proud to showcase the impact of our teams during our Day of Caring activities. Here are some additional photos of even more ways we got involved in our communities this year:

As a Fortive Operating Company, we are united by a shared purpose and values and by our commitment to making an impact on the world. Our employees’ expertise continually raises the bar for our clients, representing our vibrant and compassionate culture in their communities. Through Day of Caring participation, we are able to make an even greater positive impact and gain a deeper understanding of local needs. We are excited to see the impact our team can make throughout 2023!
