Town of Clarkdale Creates Extraordinary S.T.E.A.M. Park
September 3, 2026
In 2025, the Town of Clarkdale, Arizona, used Gordian’s Cooperative Job Order Contracting (JOC) to transform underutilized baseball fields at Selna Mongini Park into a one-of-a-kind recreation experience embracing the principles of S.T.E.A.M. – Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
The project demonstrated the very best of JOC. Town leaders partnered with Gordian and local construction firm Fann Contracting to work within budget constraints and create the park the community desired in merely eight months. The $2.75 million renovation made such a positive impact on the community that it won Gordian’s 2025 Harry H. Mellon Award of Excellence in Job Order Contracting, the highest honor a JOC project can receive.
In this video, officials from the Town of Clarkdale, members of the Fann Contracting team and a local Gordian representative discuss what made this unique project an unequivocal success.
