Have specific questions about how we can help with construction projects funded by the American Rescue Plan, Coronavirus Relief Funds and the CARES Act?

Gordian remains committed to being responsive to your
needs. Here are answers to some of the most common
questions our teams are receiving:

Yes. Around the country, local governments and school districts are using Gordian Job Order Contracting (JOC) and ezIQC® solutions to purchase renovation, reconfiguration, modification, and installation work related to the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Acts of 2021 and Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) funding. These projects include:

  • Upgrades and modifications to HVAC systems to reduce and filter higher levels of airborne pathogens.
  • Installation of no-touch technologies such as hands-free automatic door opening solutions, touchless faucets, garbage and recycling systems, crosswalks, hand sanitizing stations, card readers, paper towel dispensers, etc.
  • Reconfiguration of space to support social distancing guidelines.
  • Installation of anti-bacterial countertops and surfaces.
  • Removal of traditional light switches and installation of occupancy sensors.
  • Elevator modifications.
  • Installation of plexiglass partitions and physical barriers in high-traffic areas.
  • Removal of soft flooring and wall finishes.

Yes, the Construction Task Catalogs® (CTCs) developed for our Job Order Contracting (JOC) programs include preset pricing for the labor, materials and equipment needed in disaster and emergency response efforts, including the Alternate Care Site program of work developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

To help agencies adhere to OSHA’s guidelines for preparing workplaces for COVID-19, Gordian’s team of Construction Cost Engineers has also developed Tasks for biohazard and infectious disease control remediation with regionalized costs applied.

In addition, the 2021 RSMeans data (available now on RSMeans.com) includes specific line items for biohazard remediation and new line items and COVID-19 modifiers for infectious disease precautions

Typically, clients use our Job Order Contracting (JOC) solution on renovations, repairs and straightforward new construction. In our current circumstances, the answer to this question may depend on what your state deems “essential construction.” If we can help, we absolutely will.

Here are a couple of examples of projects we’re currently helping our clients with:

  • Converting McCormick Place to a field hospital, including creating 750 self-contained units in Hall B
  • Transitioning empty units into precautionary quarantine units at the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority
  • Preparing CSU campus dorms to become alternative care sites across the state of California
